Everton: Jamie Carragher sends ‘great’ Dele Alli message after Sky Sports appearance

Jamie Carragher has insisted it would be great to see Everton ace Dele Alli back playing at the highest level after his guest appearance on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.

Alli was the live guest as Everton were battered 6-0 by Chelsea and he confessed he is targeting a return to the England squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Late in 2023, it appeared Alli was approaching a return to the team at Goodison Park before he sustained yet another injury in a long string of frustration surrounding the midfielder.

Following the conclusion of the show [15 April], Carragher took to X to share: “Thanks to Dele for joining us on Monday Night Football tonight, I think I speak for everyone that it would be great to see him back playing football and scoring goals at the highest level.”

What has happened to Dele Alli at Everton?

Alli’s message to the fans on New Year’s Day in which he confirmed the injury blow spoke about being positive and determined to get back to his best, but since then he has felt yet another knock as he underwent surgery at the end of January.

More recently, it had been suggested that Dele may never play again at Goodison Park given the number of injuries he has suffered, but his positivity when speaking to Carragher on Monday Night Football suggests he is determined to come back.

Just as there had been some hope that Alli would finally make his return to Goodison Park after everything that he has gone through in his personal life, as explained on The Overlap with Gary Neville [13 July], there was yet another kick in the teeth for the midfielder.

With an eventual return to England in mind, and like Carragher shared, everybody will be hoping he can make a full recovery from injury as soon as possible to return under Sean Dyche and start playing regular football again.
