Everton: Sam Matterface shares 777 Partners takeover update live on air after what he was told

Sam Matterface has revealed 777 Partners will be due to repay the £158million MSP Capital loan either later this month or in May after an agreement was reached.

The talkSPORT commentator shared that he spoke to the group’s representatives during the 6-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as they assured they had secured an extension.

This comes following an update from Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers [15 April] who explained that an agreement was in place between MSP and Farhad Moshiri, although the details remained unclear.

Speaking live on talkSPORT [16 April, 07:13], Matterface shared: “They were due to repay a £158million loan to MSP Capital last night.

“I spoke to 777 Partners before the game and after the game, and they assured me that an extension has been granted. That money will be due later this month, maybe even next month.”

777 Partners takeover edging closer for Everton

It has been reported that the final hurdle for the group to overcome would involve paying back the main creditors to whom the club owes money – one of which is MSP – but questions lingered over whether they had the financial ability to do so.

The fact the deadline for the repayment had to be pushed back should present a concern of its own, but it also suggests that the takeover has become even more likely with the extra time surely allowing 777 space to prepare for the payment ahead of the takeover.

With this seemingly the final hurdle to overcome as far as the Premier League’s owners and directors test is concerned, the agreement with MSP will push the group one step closer to completing their takeover at long last.

Whether this is a good thing for Everton will remain up for debate given the concerns surrounding 777 Partners, but with the takeover would come increased clarity which can be no bad thing at a time of plenty of uncertainty.
