Everton: Nathan Patterson undergoes scan with injury news on way at Goodison Park

Everton defender Nathan Patterson is set to discover the full extent of the hamstring injury he suffered against Chelsea with the results of a scan due on 17 April, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper has reported in its print edition (17 April, pg 46) that the right-back underwent a scan on Tuesday 16 April after being forced off at Stamford Bridge.

Everton were crushed 6-0 by Chelsea and Patterson was forced off in second-half stoppage time with an injury that could be more serious than the one picked up earlier on by Seamus Coleman, as he sweats on the outcome.

Everton injury news on Nathan Patterson

Everton saw their dire campaign go from bad to worse in that 6-0 humiliation by Chelsea, and as if six unanswered goals weren’t enough, they also picked up three injuries – all to defenders – along the way.

Patterson had only been brought on as one of three half-time changes, with the Toffees already 4-0 down, due to an injury for club captain and fellow right-back, Coleman.

With star defender Jarrad Branthwaite also forced off barely 15 minutes into the second half, Chelsea added another two goals to the rout before Patterson limped off with an issue of his own in stoppage time.

Dyche confirmed that Branthwaite and Coleman’s knocks weren’t as serious as the one picked up by Patterson, but any length of absence for the three defenders will result in an already makeshift rearguard becoming even more depleted.

It’s a bleak time at Goodison Park with takeover talks still in limbo and the team in freefall on the pitch, and Patterson will be hoping he’s fit enough to play his part, if possible, in turning Everton’s season around.
