Everton coaches blasted at Finch Farm over ‘extremely poor’ Jordan Pickford
Bryan King has criticised Jordan Pickford for his “extremely poor” display against Chelsea.
The ex-Everton scout has slammed the 30-year-old’s performance as Sean Dyche’s side were thrashed 6-0 at Stamford Bridge on Monday (15 April).
It is a result which leaves the Toffees just two points above the drop zone ahead of their relegation six-pointer with Nottingham Forest at Goodison Park on Sunday (21 April).
And King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – feels that Pickford was largely at fault against Chelsea.
“Pickford, England’s number one? We must be struggling for goalkeepers,” King said.
“I am not sure what type of training they are doing with goalkeepers these days, but it certainly isn’t training them to catch the ball.
“Everything that went near Pickford he pushed it away, and for someone who is meant to be brilliant with his feet, he certainly didn’t execute the pass that he wanted when he played Cole Palmer in.
“That was extremely poor, especially for a man who is supposed to be the number one goalkeeper for his country.”
Jordan Pickford must bounce back for Everton against Nottingham Forest
It is fair to say the Everton shot-stopper didn’t have his finest evening in London on Monday night.
He was arguably at fault for two or three goals, and definitely at fault for at least one after playing the ball straight to the feet of Palmer, which allowed the 21-year-old to lob the goalkeeper and seal a first-half hattrick.

It was a mistake which left Pickford with egg on his face, and he will need to show signs of improvement over the coming weeks if Everton are to maintain Premier League status.
