Everton: David Ornstein shares Dele Alli future update today
David Ornstein has shared his gut instinct that Dele Alli will not get another contract at Everton once his current deal expires this summer.
The former England international appeared on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football during the 6-0 defeat to Chelsea on 15 April and revealed he has set himself a goal of making it into the Three Lions squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Dele hasn’t played in over a year due to injury and mental health issues, and his contract at Goodison Park is due to expire this summer.
Writing in a Q&A on The Athletic website on 18 April, Ornstein shared his thoughts on Alli’s future, where he admitted there will be plenty of chances elsewhere if he gets fully fit.
“I don’t know if it will be at Everton,” he wrote.
“Gut instinct says it won’t because his contract expires this summer and he hasn’t really been able to justify a new one (that’s before we mention Everton’s financial situation and whether they could afford it).”
Should Dele Alli get a new Everton contract?
Frank Lampard was the man who brought Dele into the club, as he looked to add goals to the squad and help one of the best young talents this country has seen revitalise his career.
However, the deal didn’t work, with Lampard never really giving him an opportunity at the club before allowing him to move on and go on loan to Besiktas in Turkey instead.
He returned from that loan due to a serious injury, but the writing has seemingly already been on the wall under Sean Dyche because they have a completely different style of football that they are known for.

The club must be as ruthless as possible in the summer when it comes to the playing staff because the financial situation is horrendous and the squad needs to be maximised as much as possible.
Dele’s contract is likely to be quite big and he simply has done nothing in 18 months to justify getting another chance. He should leave, whether he wants to or not, and Everton have to move on.
In other Everton news, another Goodison Park career is surely over after what happened in the 6-0 loss to Chelsea.
