Everton: Stan Collymore shares new Sean Dyche sack verdict at Goodison Park

Stan Collymore believes Sean Dyche should remain as the Everton manager despite the club’s poor run of form over the past few months.

Writing on the Caught Offside website on Friday (19 April), the pundit said the Toffees boss could build the first phase of a “new Everton” under normal circumstances as they prepare to move into their new stadium.

But given the points deductions and recent form, Collymore admitted that he does “fear” for Dyche, adding that the Blues would need a club builder and a bit of a “miracle worker” if the 52-year-old were to leave Goodison Park.

“Do I think Dyche should stay?” asked Collymore. “Yes, under normal circumstances I believe he could build phase one of a new Everton as they walk into their new stadium, but with points deductions ongoing, scratching for form and not being able to rely on key players I do fear for him.

“One thing is for certain, should he go, Everton won’t be needing a great coach who plays like a Pep or even an Emery. They need a club builder, a force of nature to follow and dare I say, a bit of a miracle worker.”

Could Sean Dyche be sacked by Everton?

There is no doubt that the recent performances have been far from good enough and it’s no surprise that there is speculation around Dyche’s position as manager.

But he has had to deal with an awful lot over the past year, with the points deductions and the takeover saga continuing to drag on.

If it wasn’t for those deductions, the Toffees would be well clear of the relegation zone despite only winning one Premier League game in this calendar year.

That is a pretty damning stat for the Englishman and he will know that the results simply must improve if the Blues are to remain in the top flight and he is, ultimately, to keep his job at Goodison.

The fact of the matter is, though, that there isn’t anyone better available right now and the club just have to put their faith in Dyche over the next few weeks before reviewing his situation this summer.
