Everton vs Nottingham Forest: Super computer predicts result of clash at Goodison Park
A super computer has predicted the most likely outcome of this weekend’s Premier League showdown between Everton and Nottingham Forest.
Everton enter Sunday’s (21 April) clash at Goodison Park sitting one point and one place above Forest, having also played one game less.
Victory for the Toffees would go a long way to easing their relegation fears, and The Analyst has predicted they will indeed come out on top.
Everton are given a 39.3-per-cent chance of winning by Opta, compared to 31.4 per cent for Forest. A draw has a 29.3-per-cent likelihood of happening.
The supercomputer, which uses 10,000 pre-match simulations to reach its conclusion, also shared an updated forecast in the relegation battle.
Luton Town (61 per cent), Burnley (98.5 per cent) and Sheffield United (99.8 per cent) remain the three favourites to go straight back down.
Everton and Nottingham Forest remain in relegation trouble
On the back of the 6-0 loss to Chelsea, quite how anyone – or anything, in the case of this computer – can back Everton to win is a mystery.
That is not just being negative for the sake of it, but the Toffees were truly terrible at Stamford Bridge and have been out of form for a while now.
Sean Dyche’s side have won just one of their past 15 games – a victory over Burnley – which includes a club-record winless run in the division.

However, for all the negativity, all it takes is one more big win this weekend over Forest to all but banish the relegation fears.
If Everton can move five points clear with a game in hand, with Forest a buffer between ourselves and bottom three, that would be huge.
Defeat, on the other hand, and it really will be squeaky bum time. So let’s just hope the defeat to Chelsea is out of the system for this showdown.
