Everton: Former directors slammed as financial mess now made public

Richard Buxton has slammed Everton and the former directors after developments emerged from the EFC Shareholders’ Association meeting on Friday, 19 April.

The football reporter and author of ‘The Worst-Run Club in the Country’ which explains the Toffees’ downfalls read the minutes of the meeting which claimed that the ex directors at Goodison Park determined how much money they had to be paid before leaving the club.

This was made public as it was discussed in the past 24 hours and then put out on the website.

Via Twitter, Buxton wrote: “Just like the ‘strategic review’, the incompetent idiots who’ve left Everton in such a mess now were allowed to mark their own homework one last time.”

Unethical practises at Everton holding club behind

The revelations from the meeting are indeed shocking and highlight a significant issue within Everton’s management.

It is highly irregular and unethical for former directors to determine their own compensation packages before leaving the club.

This practice not only reflects poorly on the integrity of those involved but also raises serious concerns about the club’s governance and financial stability.

Such actions should not be allowed to happen in any professional organisation, let alone a football club with a rich history and a loyal fan base.

Allowing individuals to self-assess their worth and leave with hefty payouts is a clear sign of mismanagement and a lack of accountability.

This kind of behaviour erodes trust among fans, stakeholders and the wider football community.

Everton’s failure to progress is further underscored by the fact that such individuals were employed by the club in the first place.

It is crucial for the Toffees to learn from these mistakes and implement robust governance structures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

In other Everton news, a senior player may never start for the club again after the Chelsea loss and is now very likely to leave in June.
