Nottingham Forest slammed by Chris Sutton over social media post after Everton loss

Chris Sutton slammed Nottingham Forest over their “ridiculous” social media post following the 2-0 loss to Everton.

A number of contentious calls went against Forest in Sunday’s (21 April) contest at Goodison Park in what was a massive win for the Toffees.

The club’s official X account called out the officials not long after the full-time whistle and alleged that the VAR is a Luton Town fan.

“Three extremely poor decisions – three penalties not given – which we simply cannot accept,” the statement read.

“We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game but they didn’t change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times. NFFC will now consider its options.”

In direct response to that tweet, Sutton replied on his personal X account [21 April]: “Ridiculous this is.”

Nottingham Forest call out Premier League

Forest have every right to feel aggrieved, but the response to these decisions going against them is something else.

The Reds, who have had their fair share of problems with referees, are surely facing quite severe action for this message.

Given the way that club is run, you would not be surprised if it was personally written by someone at the very top of the club, without naming names.

Everton have been on the end of their fair share of questionable decisions this season, while they also have every right to feel as though the Premier League is against them.

Once the dust settles on this victory, supporters can now breathe a little easier as there is a nice buffer between the Toffees and the relegation zone.

That is not to say the job is done, but relegation is now looking far less likely than it did on the back of the heavy loss to Chelsea. For that, the players deserve big praise.
