Everton: Chris Sutton rages after ‘sickening’ Beto incident in win v Nottingham Forest

Chris Sutton has been left enraged by a “sickening” incident involving Everton striker Beto and Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White.

The Toffees claimed all three points at Goodison Park on Sunday (21 April) with a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Idrissa Gueye and Dwight McNeil but were hit with a new injury blow as Beto was forced off in injury time.

In the final minutes of the game, the Portuguese forward clashed heads with Gibbs-White and while the Toffees striker was forced off in a stretcher, the Forest midfielder was allowed to play on, much to the frustration of Sutton.

Writing on X on Sunday (21 April) he said: “Once again a serious head clash not dealt with adequately. Beto and Gibbs-White’s clash of heads is sickening and while Beto has to come off and rightly so Gibbs White stays on.

“It’s the same force/impact going through both players’ skulls! Most clubs don’t care about player welfare”

Will Beto play for Everton again this season after incident v Nottingham Forest?

Most supporters would have their hearts in their mouths when they saw Beto hit the ground in the manner he did. Luckily, Dyche has suggested he is already responsive and he quickly made a gesture to supporters from his stretcher.

Hopefully, the striker won’t be ruled out for too long as he has shown in the last few weeks that he has a role to play in this side. He, like Calvert-Lewin, is far from perfect but he works hard and never knows when he is beaten.

On Sutton’s point, it does seem slightly concerning that one player can be forced off on a stretcher whilst the other is allowed to play on. Concussions are a serious issue in the modern game and who knows how that impact will affect Gibbs-White.

Hopefully, Dyche’s side will have both their strikers back fit and available sooner rather than later. Until then, they have to take it as a positive that Beto is still healthy and enjoy the three points that could be crucial in the relegation battle.
