Everton: Alex Crook shares what Premier League insiders have said about 777 Partners takeover
Alex Crook says people close to the Premier League board are suspicious as to whether 777 Partners will be granted approval to complete its takeover of Everton.
The protracted takeover has dragged on for more than seven months and there has been little indication as to whether league chiefs will give the green light for it to continue.
However, talkSPORT broadcaster Crook has indicated that the American investment fund will ultimately be blocked from taking over at Goodison Park.
“I’ve spoken to people close to the Premier League board and there’s always been a suspicion they wouldn’t pass the Owners’ and Directors’ Test anyway. So you wonder where Everton go from here,” Crook said on the Premier League All Access podcast [19 April, 45m 04s].

All Everton supporters want at this stage is clarity regarding the whole situation. 777 expected an answer within weeks, then within a few months, and now it will likely be the summer until we hear more.
The big fear is that if this takeover does collapse, who will be waiting to pick up the pieces? It is nice to think there is a wealthy magnate standing by, but nobody knows that.
Given the complexities of 777’s finances, it was always going to take a bit of time to carry out the due diligence process. The fact it has taken the best part of an entire season, though, is shocking.
777 was this week granted an extension to pay back a £160million loan [The Guardian], which is said to have staved off the threat of a further points deduction.
Amid the daily doom-mongering – much of it justified – Everton quite simply need a decision to be made one way or another before it is too late.
