Nottingham Forest make scathing social media post at PGMOL after Everton defeat
Nottingham Forest have fired a scathing social media post at the PGMOL following a number of controversial calls in their defeat to Everton.
Sean Dyche’s side took a huge step towards Premier League safety with a 2-0 win at Goodison Park on Sunday (21 April) but were helped by several decisions from officials that went their way throughout the clash.
Ashley Young alone could have potentially given away three penalties in the match and Forest have been quick to slam the officials and the PGMOL for their decision-making, claiming VAR Stuart Atwell is biased as a Luton Town fan.
Writing on X on Sunday (21 April) Forest said: “Three extremely poor decisions – three penalties not given – which we simply cannot accept. We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game but they didn’t change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times.
“NFFC will now consider its options.”
Nottingham Forest fire jibe at PGMOL after defeat v Everton at Goodison Park
Most Everton supporters would have felt they were extremely lucky to get on the right side of several controversial decisions at Goodison Park on Sunday, but Forest’s reaction seems incredibly unprofessional and extreme.
Every team in the Premier League will have had decisions go against them at some point this season. Sadly the standard of officiating in the division is so low that referees will not get every decision in every game correct.
To come out with this sort of statement so soon after the final whistle is not something that has ever been seen before in the Premier League. It is an absolutely bizarre end to what would have been a positive day for Dyche’s side.
Everton supporters will just be happy to see their side pick up a much-needed three points, but it will be interesting to see how Forest escalate this complaint further. Either way, it was ultimately a very good, if slightly lucky, day for the Toffees.
