Everton striker Beto sends message to fans after head injury v Nottingham Forest
Everton striker Beto has provided an update about his condition with a post on Instagram, just hours after being knocked out in a head clash during the win against Nottingham Forest.
The 26-year-old striker suffered the nasty injury after colliding with Morgan Gibbs-White during stoppage time of Everton’s 2-0 Premier League victory.
Beto had come on as a substitute for Dominic Calvert-Lewin midway through the second half, and play was stopped for eight minutes as the Toffees striker received treatment before being stretchered off.
Posting a story on Instagram after being discharged from hospital, Beto said: “Everything is okay now, thank you for the support. Time to sleep.”
He also posted a picture of his celebrations following Dwight McNeil’s game-sealing goal, writing: “Massive three points today lads. All heart, all effort.”
Beto injury news emerges at Everton
Everton took a big step towards Premier League survival with their 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest, with goals in either half to dispatch the side who went into the game just one point and one place below them in the table.
Beto, despite his game being remembered more for the head injury which he has confirmed he’s on the mend from, was involved in the attacking move which yielded McNeil’s 76th-minute strike, which he curled home from 25 yards after being teed up by Abdoulaye Doucoure.
It was a welcome victory for Sean Dyche’s side, coming off the back of a 6-0 drubbing by Chelsea, making it two wins in their last three matches, both coming against rivals also mired in the relegation battle.
With games against Brentford, Luton and Sheffield United all to come, Everton have a chance to build on their 2-0 victory and finally see themselves safe to guarantee their Premier League future.
The Toffees will be hoping that Beto can return from injury to make an impact soon.
