Farhad Moshiri told to ‘rescue’ Everton after ‘absurd’ 777 Partners takeover news

The Esk has called upon Farhad Moshiri to allow alternative investors to rescue Everton after the latest 777 Partners takeover twist emerged at Goodison Park.

It was reported on Tuesday (23 April) that sources close to Moshiri told BBC Sport that their attempts to seek external investment are standard practice.

The Esk said it is an “absurd” claim and once again raised doubts about 777’s ability to find either a credible backer or co-investor.

Writing via his X account [23 April], The Esk shared: “777 have sought external investment for their multi-club football operations since Q3 2023 & failed.

“There is plenty of institutional cash available for football investment. The idea that this is a standard contingency practice is absurd.

“The clear evidence points to 777 not being able to fund the acquisition themselves nor persuade any credible investor to back/co-invest. The game is up, Moshiri must allow others to rescue the club immediately.”

The Esk fumes at Farhad Moshiri and 777 Partners in Everton takeover rant

The latest twist emerging from the 777 Partners takeover bid suggests they have been unable to raise the funds required to pay off MSP Capital’s loans – the final stipulation for the takeover to pass the Premier League’s owners and directors test.

Those finances have been the subject of repeated questioning since the takeover talks began, with the sources of their funding initially unclear before later updates from the US revealed the instability of their backing.

With those concerns emerging alongside plenty of other external issues including legal cases, protests from supporters at the other clubs in their portfolio and issues with the Premier League, it is difficult to see how this takeover would go through smoothly.

All parties involved in the takeover deal have continued to insist that they are confident they will be able to complete the deal, but the length of time taken since the original purchase was agreed in September 2023 calls their claims into question.
