Sean Dyche confirms early Everton team news v Brentford as Goodison duo ruled out

Sean Dyche has confirmed that Everton will be without two first-team defenders for the Premier League clash with Brentford on Saturday 27 April.

The Toffees took a huge step towards safety with a 2-0 derby win over Liverpool (24 April), and are back in action at the weekend where a win could cement their Premier League status if other results go their way.

But speaking in his pre-game press conference (25 April), the manager confirmed he would be without Vitalii Mykolenko and captain Seamus Coleman for the game through injuries but everyone else who was available in midweek is fit.

“Mykolenko is unlikely, we’ll see how that settles,” he said.

“He needs a scan on that to see the truth of it but it’s not great early signs. Seamus won’t be ready I don’t think. He’s getting closer, but he won’t be ready.”

Everton can play without pressure against Brentford

While there is still the glaring fact that Premier League status is not officially secured for next season yet, the team can now certainly play with much less pressure.

The Toffees sit eight points above the drop zone with four games remaining, including a trip to face Luton, which means it’s all now in their hands and they have turned a corner in recent games.

The 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest being followed up by a victory over Liverpool shows that the team is back in a great place once again after that staggering run of one win in 15 earlier in the campaign.

Mykolenko’s expected absence is a blow but Ashley Young and Ben Godfrey are both capable of playing there and so the manager isn’t short of options, while Calvert-Lewin’s return to form is only a positive thing.

The Bees have little to play for too, but the task is clear. A win could potentially secure safety if other results go their way so get the job done in front of the home fans and the final three games can be a party.

In other Everton news, the club have found a “tailor made” replacement for Jarrad Branthwaite and want to sign him this summer.
