Stan Collymore instantly reacts as Everton secure Premier League safety at Goodison Park
Stan Collymore has congratulated Everton on a “very impressive” run of form which has seen the Toffees secure Premier League safety.
Sean Dyche’s side beat Brentford 1-0 at Goodison Park on Saturday (27 April) to ensure that they will be playing their football in England’s top flight next season.
It marked their third win and clean sheet within the space of a week, and Collymore has taken to his official X account (27 April) to congratulate the Blues.
Collymore wrote, “Some achievement getting three wins on the bounce at this stage of the season, in a relegation scrap.
“Safe with 3 games to go after a points deduction is very impressive indeed.
“Congratulations, Toffees. A record-breaking 122nd top-flight season awaits!”
Sean Dyche and his Everton players should feel proud at Goodison Park
What a week it has been for Evertonians, and what a job Dyche and his players have done.
After the misery they have had to endure for much of the season, and in fact much of the past few years, the past week would have felt like a fever dream.
Securing a hard-fought 2-0 win over Liverpool (24 April) would have certainly been the highlight of their trio of victories this week, but the three points against Brentford were certainly the most important.
While the Toffees would have likely still eventually secured safety even if they had been beaten by the Bees, it was better for the club to ensure their Premier League status sooner rather than later.
They can now sit back and relax over the next few weeks and their focus can shift to sorting things out at boardroom level, with the threat of relegation now no longer looming over them.
