Andy Gray drops Everton ownership worry as Richard Keys details ‘another problem’

Andy Gray has questioned the direction Everton are heading in following their Premier League survival with no progress made towards finalising the ownership issues at Goodison Park.

The former Everton man questioned how decisions can be made at the club with the uncertainty surrounding the ownership, with 777 Partners’ takeover bid still ongoing.

Gray has become the latest to raise questions about the takeover situation as we approach the end of the season with a deal having initially been agreed upon in September.

Speaking live on beIN SPORTS as shared on X [27 April], Richard Keys said: “One factor is you might need to find the money to finish [the stadium].”

Gray said: “You know as well as I do, where are Everton? How can Everton make decisions as a football club when we don’t know who owns us?”

Keys replied: “Well, absolutely. And there’s no one there to make decisions, that’s another problem.”

Latest news on 777 Partners takeover at Everton

With confusion still rife about where Everton stand in terms of their ongoing takeover, the latest updates emerging from those involved in the situation is that all parties are still confident that a deal will be reached – although they have been saying that for months.

It was reported that the club’s financial advisers were seeking additional investment for the takeover, raising further concerns about whatever the group can afford to fund their takeover, although sources have insisted it is standard practice.

Those finances have been the subject of repeated questioning since the takeover talks began, with the sources of their funding initially unclear before later updates from the US revealed the instability of their backing.

With questions and concerns still lingering about the takeover, it remains to be seen whether any immediate progress will be made, with the club stuck in purgatory despite securing their Premier League survival against Brentford.
