Alan Myers issues update and timeframe on Everton second points deduction appeal

The appeal for the second points deduction handed to Everton will be heard in the final week of the Premier League season, according to Alan Myers.

The Toffees were handed a 10-point deduction earlier which they appealed and brought down to six.

They were then handed another two-point deduction, which they have appealed against, with them being docked a total of eight points this term.

Via Twitter, Sky Sports’ Myers wrote: “The appeal hearing for Everton’s second points deduction for breaching the Premier League’s P&S rules is expected to take place at the beginning of the last week of the current season

“The club secured PL safety with a win against Brentford on Saturday.

“The Club were given a further two point deduction following the full hearing earlier this month making a total of 8 points after a 6 point original deduction

“The verdict of the appeals panel is expected to come before the final game of the season on the 19th of May.”

Everton left in limbo over points deduction appeal

It’s highly unusual and chaotic for Everton’s fate regarding their points deduction appeal to be decided in the final week of the Premier League season.

This situation is unprecedented and could have significant implications for the integrity of the competition.

The Toffees have already secured their place in the league for the next season, but the outcome of their appeal still matters.

It could affect their standing in the league, their financial position and potentially impact future transfer activities.

The delay in the decision-making process reflects poorly on the Premier League’s ability to manage such critical issues efficiently.

The situation is particularly unprofessional given the importance of clarity and certainty in such matters.

It could also set a precedent for future cases where clubs could be left in limbo regarding their status until the very end of the season.

This uncertainty is not only unfair to the clubs involved but also to their fans and the competition as a whole.

In other Everton news, a claim on the red tape has emerged as there is now ‘Significant’ interest shown in the club’s takeover beyond 777 Partners.
