Everton achievement outranks Burnley accomplishment for Sean Dyche
Everton manager Sean Dyche believes keeping the club in the Premier League outranks earning Europa League qualification with his former club Burnley.
Dyche said that the Goodison Park dugout was “a different animal” to being Burnley’s manager after securing safety with a 1-0 win over Brentford at Goodison Park on Saturday (April 27).
The Everton boss was asked by the Liverpool Echo (29 April) if keeping Everton up was a greater achievement than Europa League qualification with the Clarets.
His response was: “Yes, because it is a different animal, the expectation is different.
“The reality and expectation is out of line here in my opinion and I’ve tried to bring it back in line to say ‘we are not there, we’ve got to build to get there’.”
He added: “It takes time; you have to take the knocks and I’ve certainly taken a few, the players have taken a few, the club has taken a few, so that is why it is my best season of work, without a doubt.”
Sean Dyche digs deep as Everton seal Premier League survival
Everton were in dire form coming into April, failing to win any of their previous 13 league matches and being on the brink of breaking an unwanted club record.
That all changed thanks to a much-needed 1-0 victory over Burnley at Goodison Park (6 April) and, since a 6-0 humbling by Chelsea the following Monday (15 April), Dyche has taken the bull by the horns to lead a quite brilliant revival.
Within a seven-day period, Everton played three home games, conceded zero goals, and scored five at the other end to come away with a maximum nine points.

Having had eight points wiped from their tally earlier in the season with two separate points deductions for Profit and Sustainability breaches, Everton have made up the deficit with wins over Brentford, Nottingham Forest, and arch-rivals Liverpool in a Merseyside derby that will live long in the memory for Toffees supporters.
Dyche has seen Everton safe with three games to spare and the hope is now they can find some stability off the pitch.
