Gary Neville reacts as Everton secure Premier League survival at Goodison Park
Gary Neville said that Everton have had a “great week” to confirm their Premier League place for next season, following the 1-0 win over Brentford on 27 April.
Everton moved an unassailable 11 points above the relegation zone after winning their third game in seven days at Goodison Park, and Neville praised the Toffees’ recent form.
Sean Dyche’s side next face Luton, who are still mired in the fight to escape the bottom three, and Neville believes they can go into that game with confidence after confirming their safety.
On the latest episode of the Gary Neville Podcast, he said: “Obviously Everton have got out of it now, they’ve had a great week.”
Everton clear of drop zone after glorious Goodison Park run
Everton have become one of the Premier League’s form teams this April, playing four home games and winning all of them without conceding a single goal.
Coming after a 6-0 battering by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Everton’s last three matches have seen them defeat two close sides in Nottingham Forest and Brentford, either side of a momentous 2-0 victory over arch-rivals Liverpool in the Merseyside derby, all at Goodison Park.

The Toffees have seen eight points chalked off their tally following two separate deductions earlier in the season, but those profit and sustainability penalties seemed a distant memory at Goodison on 27 April after Idrissa Gueye slammed in his second goal in three games with the winner against Brentford.
With three games to go until the end of the season, two of which are against sides below them in the table (including already-relegated Sheffield United), Dyche and his Everton players will be hoping to finish with a flourish as the club gets ready for a summer of significant changes.
