Everton ‘twist’ shared by Mark Douglas as sources speak out on 777 Partners

Mark Douglas has shared news of “another twist” regarding Everton and prospective new owners 777 Partners.

Josimar reported on Tuesday (30 April) that 777 Partners had failed to pay a promised £20million to Everton by 29 April.

That forced the club to use its own money to reach payroll obligations, it was reported, with the takeover shrouded in yet more doubt.

However, i newspaper journalist Douglas posted via his X account later on Tuesday (30 April) that working capital has been made available.

“Everton story takes another twist,” he wrote. “Sources confirm that 777 Partners have made latest working capital payment to club – as was reported in @iPaperSport this morning.

“Huge uncertainty still surrounds #efc at the moment. Clarity desperately needed on this takeover saga.”

777 Partners takeover at Everton in danger of collapsing

Clarity with regards to the takeover situation has been needed for months, but we do not seem to be getting anywhere at all.

For this to drag on for over half a year is quite frankly ridiculous. 777 Partners either has the money to fund a takeover or it doesn’t – simple.

If proof of the funds cannot be provided, surely it would have made sense to move on months back, rather than letting it drag on?

With each passing day comes yet more worrying news, including a report via The Guardian of 777 not receiving their latest expected loan.

The complex nature of the American investment fund’s portfolio effectively means they are moving money from one business to another.

“Business” being the operative word there, because Everton cannot be treated like a plaything.

The worst-case scenario is this continues to spiral and the club ends up going into administration at some stage.

Yet despite that risk, Everton fans are left in the lurch, still not knowing quite what is happening. The longer it drags on, the bleaker it all looks.

In other Everton news, a lawyer has urged the club to reconsider its points deduction appeal “immediately”.
