Everton takeover update ‘close’ as new 777 Partners deadline emerges
777 Partners face a deadline “of sorts” surrounding their bid to take over at Everton on Tuesday 30 April, but it is unlikely to be the final deadline, according to The Esk.
The Everton financial source responded to a question via his X account [30 April] about whether today was the deadline for 777, as he assured updates are “close”.
This has come after the group had agreed to delay loan repayments to MSP Capital as part of the Premier League’s demands, with Sam Matterface reporting the deadline to be at the end of April or start of May.
New 777 Partners deadline emerges in Everton takeover news
While, as The Esk insists, today is unlikely to provide the final decision about 777’s takeover at Goodison Park, the deadline in place could be significant in terms of determining whether the deal will be able to take place.
If, as Matterface suggested, the loan repayment deadline to MSP had been pushed to the end of the month, it means 777 is likely to be active on that front as they look to overcome one of the final hurdles to get the deal over the line.
However, questions surrounding the group’s financing and the accessibility of that funding to repay MSP have been raised since the delays, and if they have been unable to raise the required cash, another significant development could take place.

Given the number of concerns surrounding the prospective owners, as well as the length of time taken to assess their eligibility, there have been calls to consider alternative bidders for the takeover – with the upcoming deadlines set to prove crucial.
