Sean Dyche shares if Everton will need to sell players in takeover update

Sean Dyche is concentrating on the job at hand as the Everton takeover saga rumbles on, and dismissed talk of a mass player exodus at Goodison Park.

Dyche wasn’t drawn on off-field issues when asked before the Luton showdown on 3 May, saying he had been open about the “simplicity” of 777 Partners’ buyout of the club.

Everton have secured Premier League survival with three games remaining, despite two separate points deductions for breaching profit and sustainability rules.

Speaking to Liverpool World, Dyche said: “I’ve spoken very openly about the simplicity of it. I met with the group once. That hasn’t changed, I’m just waiting on more news.

“It’s out of my hands. I’m just waiting to see what the news brings. The powers that be here will be operating at that level.”

When asked if Everton will have to sell key players to meet PSR rules next season, he said: “Not necessarily. There are obvious questions to be answered – possible new ownership might change things.

“There are a varied amount of things that have to go into the PSR, not just that scenario.”

Dyche and Everton face summer Premier League of uncertainty

Everton looked dead and buried in the fight for Premier League survival up until April, not winning in three months and going a joint club-record 13 matches without victory in the process.

Dyche, however, has been able to lead his Toffees side on a miraculous turnaround this month, winning four matches from five attempts – all of which came at Goodison Park.

Victories over Burnley, Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and Brentford all came without conceding a goal, and have lifted Everton 11 points clear of the relegation zone, finally able to look ahead than over their shoulders for the first time this season.

However, off the field, Everton are by no means out of the mire, with 777 Partners’ potential takeover of the club continuing to struggle along as the American investment group hit stumbling block after stumbling block.

Dyche may insist that high-profile talents such as Jarrad Branthwaite are not for sale this summer as Everton look to avoid another campaign of financial fallout and points deductions, but the longer their takeover saga drags on, the more question marks will arise over sellable assets in the squad.

In other Everton news, the Toffees want to sign an “outstanding” young talent and could loan him back out immediately.
