Jordan Pickford stance shared at Everton as Chelsea transfer touted

Jordan Pickford remains settled at Everton amid “surprise” transfer links to Chelsea, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The Toffees number one has been touted as a target for Chelsea in the summer transfer window, with Fabrizio Romano stating it is one to watch.

However, Joe Thomas reported for the Liverpool Echo’s online edition [5 May] that Pickford is content at Everton.

“Those links to Stamford Bridge came as a surprise to those close to Pickford, though, who the ECHO understands remains settled in the north west and happy on Merseyside,” the report read.

“Loyalty is important to a goalkeeper who has a box at Goodison Park and who is grateful to the club that paid big money to give him a chance to establish himself in football’s top league as a 22-year-old who had just been relegated to the Championship with Sunderland, a club he loves dearly but whose trajectory meant the sale helped them.”

Jordan Pickford impressing for Everton once again

Pickford has been one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League this season and it comes as no real surprise to see him linked with a move away.

The nature of the beast is that if a player performs well for a team that has struggled at the wrong end of the table, they will naturally be tipped with a move away.

Everton’s first-choice goalkeeper is not alone in that regard, with a few others – namely Jarrad Branthwaite – among those supposedly attracting plenty of interest.

Pickford only signed a new deal last year that keeps him tied down at Goodison Park until 2027. That does not necessarily mean he will stay here until then, but it means Everton hold the power.

If Chelsea were to offer a silly amount – which you would not bet against given their spending over the past two years – then it could make things interesting.

However, assuming that is not the case, the Toffees will have no intention of selling a key player and it does not appear that he has any intention of pushing for an exit.
