The Esk moots ‘mad scramble’ at 777 Partners amid Everton takeover after Standard Liege update

The Esk has suggested there will now be a “mad scramble” among 777 Partners’ creditors after new issues emerged at the firm as they look to complete their Everton takeover.

Reports emerged from Philippe Auclair (6 May) that the Miami-based firm’s two main creditors former owner Bruno Venanzi and shareholders of Standard Liege’s stadium have instructed their lawyers to seek the seizure of 777’s assets in Belgium.

These problems have emerged as prospective new owners at Goodison Park continue to wait for their takeover to be approved and Toffees financial expert, The Esk believes the firm’s creditors will now be pushing to move ahead of each other.

Writing on X on Monday (6 May) he said: “It seems inconceivable now that there’s not going to be a mad scramble among 777 creditors globally to try and secure their position ahead of other creditors.”

Will 777 Partners complete their takeover of Everton at Goodison Park?

Everton are one of many companies to be a creditor of 777 Partners and therefore they will likely be one of these parties involved in this “mad scramble” that The Esk has mooted following these developments.

However, the Toffees are one of the least senior of the secured creditors and that means these new issues will be a much greater problem for 777 Partners in the short term than they will be for the Blues themselves.

Hopefully, this latest issue with the American firm will finally see Farhad Moshiri see sense and begin to look for other alternative buyers. 777 are not cut out to take over the Toffees and that is clearer now than it ever has been.

The current Toffees owner has remained committed to the Miami-based firm throughout the process so far, but with prospective buyers expected to emerge in the next week, it might be time to explore other options.
