Everton stance on 777 Partners takeover emerges as Premier League refuse to ratify deal
Everton do not expect 777 Partners to be able to complete their protracted takeover of the club after the Premier League refused to ratify the deal, according to HITC.
Writing on their website (9 May), the news outlet report that the Toffees hierarchy no longer expect a deal to go through, meaning Farhad Moshiri will remain as the owner until a new buyer is found.
777 Partners agreed a deal for Moshiri’s 94% stake in the club back in September but have failed to provide proof of funds, and have become the subject of several financial issues including a lawsuit accusing them of fraud.
Senior figures at the club had “major doubts” about the Miami-based investment firm’s ability to complete the deal, however they have always maintained that they intend to go through with the acquisition.
Everton on the brink of clarity
It’s been clear for a while that 777 Partners were trying to find a way to stall this deal and find the cash to push it through.
But with the process dragging on for almost the entire season, and the team finally securing their status as a Premier League club for next season there is now an immediate need for clarity.
Without funding the club is going to struggle to continue running properly, and if 777 Partners can’t provide that funding now before they even own the club how will they be able to do it afterwards?

The answer is that they won’t be able to, and with reports that other parties are interested in buying the Toffees now is the time for them to come forward and make their interest more concrete.
777 Partners don’t look like they’re going to be buying Everton anymore, which is probably a good thing, but now it’s on Moshiri to find a suitable alternative and quickly.
