Everton transfer news as Aston Villa update emerges in Jordan Pickford to Chelsea speculation

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez has joined Everton stopper Jordan Pickford on Chelsea’s list of targets this summer, according to Sportslens.

The outlet reported on its website on Thursday (9 May) that Mauricio Pochettinho’s side has kept an eye on the World Cup winner for the last 18 months and could mount a serious push for his signature come the end of the season.

Arsenal stopper Aaron Ramsdale remains on Chelsea’s list but complications could block a summer switch and while Pickford also remains a target, the Toffees are determined to keep him at Goodison Park this summer.

Previous reports have even suggested that Everton would rather offload Amadou Onana come the end of the season to help their chances of keeping the England number one on Merseyside.

Will Jordan Pickford leave Everton for Chelsea in the summer transfer window?

While Pickford has always had his critics, he has been one of the most consistent and important players in Sean Dyche’s side this season and without him, Everton could well have been relegated from the Premier League this season.

The England stopper has consistently impressed with excellent performances in some of the biggest games of the term and although he is still more than capable of making the odd error, there are few better in the division.

Now that it appears as though Chelsea are already moving on to other options before the transfer window has even opened, that could suggest that they don’t think they will be able to tempt the Toffees into parting ways.

Hopefully, between now and the end of the campaign, that remains the case. With survival already secured this season it would be a massive boost to Dyche and his side if they could keep Pickford in situ for another dogfight next term.

Losing Onana would be a blow, but the general feeling around Goodison Park over the last few months has been that it is inevitable the Belgian international would head elsewhere this summer.
