Everton superfans to be approached over MSP consortium
Merseyside millionaires Andy Bell and George Downing could be approached over a possible consortium with MSP to take over Everton, according to The Telegraph.
The Telegraph reports that Toffees supporters Bell and Downing, both highly successful in the worlds of finance and property respectively, already have money tied up in the Goodison Park club and stated the duo would be interested in at least part-ownership of Everton.
It added that insiders have shared that the duo, who did put their hands up last month over potentially stepping in, could be approached about a possible consortium with MSP, who have lent money to the club for their new stadium and considered investing in the club before a deal collapsed.
The latest update comes amid continued reports the takeover deal involving Miami-based firm 777 Partners is close to collapsing.
Who will become Everton’s new owners?
Everton fans are praying for the day that they never have to hear the word “takeover” again, and the number seven – especially when said three times – is also becoming increasingly unpopular on the blue half of Merseyside.
It looks increasingly likely now that alternative buyers will be needed to 777, with the Miami-based investment group showing no signs that they are able to complete a buyout of Moshiri’s 94.1% share in the club.

In Bell and Downing Everton seemingly have a potential lifeline: two successful multimillionaires who have shown they care about the club in previous years.
If they band together and purchase the Blues alongside MSP Capital, the duo could provide a voice for the fans which hasn’t been heard by Moshiri for a long time, and although they won’t have the financial clout of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, Everton will at least be run by individuals who have the club’s best interests at heart.
