Everton takeover twist sees suggestion of ulterior motive behind 777 Partners takeover attempt
Bryan King believes Farhad Moshiri and 777 Partners are no closer to an agreement on the takeover of Everton than they were in December.
The ex-Everton scout does not believe that 777 Partners are fit for purpose at Goodison Park.
It comes after Moshiri and the Premier League were urged by the Everton Shareholders Association to abandon takeover talks with 777 with the Miami-based company accused of fraud amounting to £279million (via The Guardian, 7 May).
And King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – doesn’t see 777 as serious prospective owners, instead claiming that there’s an ulterior motive behind their efforts to buy the Premier League club, which has boosted their publicity.
“I’ve been saying this the entire time,” King said.
“To me, it seems as if 777 Partners have been using these talks to keep themselves in the public eye by continually saying they will purchase the club.
“They don’t act like a company who have got the kind of money to sort out everything which needs sorting out at Everton.
“These talks should have been abandoned before Christmas, they are no closer to getting this deal across the line than they were at that point.”
Farhad Moshiri must soften his stance on 777 Partners at Everton
Moshiri appears to remain insistent on completing a deal with 777.
However, it doesn’t appear as if the American investment firm are the right people to run the Premier League club, and Moshiri must recognise this.

The longer the takeover takes to be completed, the more money it will cost Moshiri, and if there are other suitable investors then he needs to start making some phone calls.
In other Everton news, one player at the club could be sidelined until August.
