Everton takeover development as Farhad Moshiri agreement ends amid 777 Partners chaos

777 Partner’s agreement with Farhad Moshiri to buy his Everton shares expired this week, according to Paul Brown.

The journalist, who has written extensively on the American firm for Josimar during the takeover attempt, reported via Twitter on 11 May that the deal which was announced back in September has now lapsed after eight months without approval from the Premier League being secured.

Moshiri’s doubts over 777’s ability to fund a takeover appears to have coincided with the agreement coming to an end, with focus now turning to MSP Sports Capital to potentially step in to take control instead.

Despite the deal no longer being in place the Miami-based group have still delivered another nine-figure set of funding to the club.

Everton up for grabs as 777 Partners fail to get over the line

This would appear to explain why Moshiri has woken up to the fact that 777 have struggled throughout the season to get the financing together to satisfy the Premier League’s conditions to takeover.

Until there is an official announcement of anything it is impossible to 100% rule anything out in this saga, but recent developments seem to suggest the situation at the American firm is worsening.

Insolvency advisors have now been called in at 777, shortly after Everton moved to do the same, and co-founders Josh Wander and Steven Pasko have been removed from their positions on the board of the football division.

If their hopes of getting a deal over the line were looking unlikely after their failure to meet the April deadline to repay the club’s loans to MSP then the past fortnight have likely ended the chances.

If the deal with Moshiri has expired then the coast would appear to finally be clear for one of the alternative buyers to step in.

That is unlikely to be a lucrative development from the majority shareholder’s point of view, and doesn’t look to be especially straight forward either way, but with potential new investment available to back an MSP move Everton might finally be nearing a step forward.
