Farhad Moshiri must call off 777 Partners Everton takeover today after Standard Liege update
Everton fans have long since grown tired of hearing about 777 Partners and their attempts to takeover the Toffees at Goodison Park.
This saga has rumbled on for over eight months now and while some sources have always insisted the Miami-based firm wasn’t financially committed to acquire the Blues, Farhad Moshiri has remained committed to seeing the deal over the line.
Only now after fresh legal action has been taken against Josh Wander’s company over an alleged fraudulent scheme has the current Toffees boss woken up and admitted alternative buyers may be required.
However, 777’s takeover still isn’t officially over, but new developments at one of the firm’s other companies, Standard Liege, should push Moshiri to end his talks with the company immediately.
Will 777 Partners complete their takeover of Everton at Goodison Park?
The Belgian club’s match with Westerlo had to be called off on Friday (10 May) night because the player’s coach was unable to make its way to the ground because of supporters’ protests against the ownership [Joe Thomas, 10 May].
Standard’s fanbase has grown unsettled with 777 particularly after the club were hit with yet another transfer ban this week, not for the first time under the ownership of the Miami-based firm.
On top of this, reports from Sacha Tavolieri (8 May) suggest that the football club’s accounts are currently empty with players being informed that unless something changes, they will not be paid before the end of the season.
How Moshiri can view this company as fit and proper custodians of his football club is now beyond belief. The deal may suit him and benefit him financially, but it is abundantly clear 777 is not equipped to take over Everton.
Hopefully, the Toffees chief will finally wake up and completely end talks with the Miami-based firm and begin thoroughly researching alternative buyers.
This farce with 777 Partners has gone on for long enough already and Moshiri should get out before it collapses.
