Andy Burnham sends message to Sean Dyche amid ‘most challenging’ Everton situation
Everton manager Sean Dyche has been sent a new message by Andy Burnham following the Toffees’ Premier League win over Sheffield United.
The Blues, who had already secured their place in the Premier League, won their final game at Goodison Park this season 1-0 against the Blades on Saturday (11 May) and Dyche and his side were given a huge ovation by the home crowd.
While the former Burnley boss has come under pressure at points this season, Mayor of Greater Manchester and Everton fan Burnham was quick to heap praise on the Toffees manager for his work this term.
Writing on X on Sunday (12 May) Burnham said: “Sean Dyche and his staff have done a truly outstanding job for Everton in the most challenging of circumstances.
“A huge thank you from us all.”
Will Sean Dyche still be at Everton come the start of next season?
While some pundits and fans alike have criticised Dyche for his style of football and the Toffees’ poor run of form at the start of the year, the Everton manager has bounced back with aplomb and led his side incredibly well.
Few managers in the Premier League have faced as many off-the-field issues as the Englishman, with point deductions and constant takeover issues ensuring that little focus has been on the pitch this season.
But not once has Dyche complained or suggested that he has been unfairly treated. Instead, the Blues boss has made his team effective and hard to beat and that deserves plenty of credit as few could have handled this as well.
Hopefully, this is just the start of an excellent journey under Dyche at Goodison Park. Ultimately, the goal next term will once again be to avoid the drop but if behind-the-scenes issues are sorted, he has shown he can be a very capable boss.
