Abdoulaye Doucoure calls for stability after Everton financial chaos at Goodison Park
Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure has called for “more stability” at the club with player sales mooted to balance the books this summer.
The midfield star was speaking after scoring the winner against Sheffield United at Goodison Park, but with off-field instability overshadowing events on the pitch, he suggested he was struggling to enjoy those moments.
Doucoure assured fans that he was happy to stay at Goodison Park, but with 777 Partners’ bid to purchase Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1% stake in the club potentially set to fall through, the club are in a precarious financial position with “more chaos” expected.
In quotes reported by the Daily Mail, Doucoure said: “Obviously we want more stability in the club.”
On his performances, he added: “I just want to enjoy it, to play free and win games.”
Will Abdoulaye Doucoure still be at Everton next season?
Everton are in line to make several player sales this summer, and while Doucoure told the Daily Mail of his intention to stay put at Goodison Park, his area of the pitch could look brand-new next season.
In central midfield, Dele Alli, Andre Gomes and regular starter Idrissa Gueye are three of the six Toffees players out of contract this June, while Amadou Onana is also expected to be sold.

That would leave Doucoure and James Garner as Everton’s only first-team players who operate in the middle of the park, and while replacements have been linked, it’s very much sell-to-buy at Goodison Park.
There’s going to need to be much more selling than buying too, with the Mail reporting £89.1million in losses over the past 12 months.
Doucoure is one of several Everton players who have stood tall to help the Blues confirm their Premier League status, but it seems neither he nor the fans can rest easy knowing what may await in the coming months.
