777 Partners takeover could have formally collapsed at Everton behind the scenes

777 Partners’ bid to takeover Everton may have already formally collapsed behind the scenes at Goodison Park, according to Stefan Borson.

The Miami-based investment firm had agreed on a deal to acquire Farhad Moshiri’s controlling stake in the Toffees, but are yet to be granted approval to complete their takeover by the Premier League.

Reports have suggested that the takeover is set to collapse in the coming days at Goodison Park and while the Premier League won’t completely reject the bid, finance expert Borson has revealed negotiations could already be over.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Tuesday (14 May, 11:23) he said: “The Premier League will not formally turn them down if they do not meet the conditions they will not be approved but they won’t formally be rejected.

“As we talked about 777 is almost over in terms of the Everton situation. It may even be formally over just that we don’t yet know. It’s very, very strange why they’ve kept funding all the way through.”

Will 777 Partners complete their takeover of Everton at Goodison Park?

For a while now it has been obvious that 777 does not have the financial muscle to run Everton successfully and that has been evident through the issues a number of their other businesses in and out of sport have faced.

However, the only man who has been unable to recognise those issues has been Moshiri who for much of the process has been eager to see this deal over the line and exclusively only dealt with the Miami-based firm.

Even Moshiri now appears to have woken up and realised Josh Wander and his company are not fit to run the Toffees in the future and whether or not the deal has already collapsed, it only seems to be heading in one direction.

Hopefully, some clarity will emerge at Goodison Park sooner rather than later because supporters have been left in the dark for far too long. Fans deserve to know what is happening to their football club, especially when it is something as important as this.
