Everton takeover reveal: Who dealmakers believe will want to buy Blues if 777 are axed
Dealmakers at Everton believe that George Downing and Andy Bell are the most likely people to buy the club if a deal with 777 Partners collapses, according to The Telegraph.
The Miami-based investment firm agreed a deal with Farhad Moshiri back in September but have so far failed to produce proof of funds to have the takeover ratified by the Premier League, and now face a mountain of legal issues concerning their financial situation including a lawsuit accusing them of fraud.
A takeover including 777 is now said to be “dead in the water” as a result, and according to a fresh report (14 May) it’s local businessmen Bell and Downing who are likely to be the most interested in at least part-ownership as they already have money tied up in the club.
Anyone but 777 Partners would be ideal for Everton
It’s clear now that 777 Partners are not and never were suitable buyers of the club and that Farhad Moshiri just wanted as much money as possible.
While that’s fair from his perspective after plunging hundreds of millions into the club, it’s his responsibility to find suitable buyers who have the club’s best interests at heart too.
Bell and Downing are local businessmen and already have money in the club, and if given the chance to take their interest into ownership level they would surely jump at the chance and that can only be a good thing.

With the summer transfer window looming and plenty of big decisions needing to be made about the future of Everton with their financial troubles, the quicker this is solved the better.
Moshiri should be looking at alternatives already and it seems as though this duo would be the best option currently, so he should look to find a way to get a deal done as soon as possible.
