Dominic Calvert-Lewin shares Everton supporters ‘bugbear’ admission as chant plea made
Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has discussed the one “bugbear” he had with the Goodison Park supporters.
The England striker told the Everton official website [15 May] that whilst he has enjoyed the various songs chanted towards him from the Toffees’ away followings, he feels there wasn’t a regular personalised song from the Goodison Park crowd.
Everton’s win over Sheffield United on Saturday was the team’s final home fixture of the Premier League season, as they head into next term in what they expect to be their last before moving to their Bramley-Moore Dock stadium.
“The one bugbear I’ve got is that for the goals I have scored, I’ve never really had a song, have?” Calvert-Lewin said.
“I’ve got the one [to the tune of UB40’s Kingston Town] that pops up at away games but I’d love to have one at home and maybe that can be it.”
A strong end to the season for Calvert-Lewin has resurfaced transfer rumours, as well as talk of his aims to return to the England fold in the near future.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin to make an England return?
Calvert-Lewin is now in the midst of the prime years of his career, and whether his future lies at Everton is one matter – although the improvement and Premier League safety of the side under Sean Dyche vastly improves the Blues’ chances of keeping the frontman.
But will their number nine return to England reckoning? A multitude of circumstances come into play.
Whilst Calvert-Lewin’s 11 England caps have all been courtesy of Gareth Southgate, the striker has not made an appearance for the Three Lions since 2021 and will want to rise in a pecking order that currently contains Harry Kane, Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney in what is usually a one-man front line.

Everton looks to be the best place for Calvert-Lewin to continue playing his football – he is first choice under Dyche, has struck a chord with fans during his eight years on Merseyside and has shown an excellent mentality to return from injury struggles.
As for his England future, a potential new manager and a fresh attacking system after Euro 2024 may boost Calvert-Lewin’s chances, but for now his best course of action is to pick up where he left off at the end of this season, with four goals in his last six in blue.
