Everton offered £150m lifeline in Bramley-Moore Dock stadium development
Everton have been offered a loan of up to £150million by private equity company GDA Luma Capital, according to Bloomberg.
The American firm, specialising in distressed debt and special situations, have offered the capital in order to help the club continue developing their new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium, set to be completed by the end of this year.
However, The Esk claimed on X [14 May] that this loan would make “no sense” as it would merely replace that of MSP Sports Capital which is currently in place – a company said to be rivalling 777 Partners in a bid to purchase a controlling stake in the club from Farhad Moshiri.
The post also claimed the loan would cost more in interest to repay, as scrambling efforts are made to ensure the stadium is ready for action within the proposed time period.
Everton stadium funding questions remain
With Sean Dyche’s side confirmed to be playing Premier League football during their final season at Goodison Park next term, a set portion of club capital has been secured.
But with the 777 Partners saga throwing up a new update daily – for better or for worse as far as Blues fans are concerned – the club find themselves looking to clarify how the stadium development will be smoothly funded to complete construction by next year.
Should 777 have been the consortium to take over the club, supporters would understandably be doubting their ability to pay off outstanding loans due to recent lawsuit and restructuring reports from the US.

But now Moshiri himself has publicly voiced his doubts with the firm in waiting, the takeover controversy staggers on in the midst of a stadium redevelopment.
Once the stadium is built, investors are expected to be queueing out of Merseyside given the revenue it will sweep in each year – but they have to reach that stage first, via a tightrope.
