Everton v Arsenal injury news as Doctor drops Andre Gomes update
Everton midfielder Andre Gomes may miss the final day clash against Arsenal on 19 May, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims after assessing an image that the Portuguese is unlikely to require surgery as if that would’ve been the case, he would’ve been rushed to the hospital straight away.
He picked up a facial injury against Sheffield United and there is a chance his vision could be impaired or there could even be a fracture.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Gomes:
“Based on the photo, there’s clear swelling and there’s a cut to the side of the eye so he remains a major doubt for the final game.
“If he’s unable to return, it could be a few different reasons.
“The swelling might be too high and impairing vision, the risk of returning and reopening the wound might be too high or there’s some sort of fracture that requires significant healing time.
“If he needs surgery, that would indicate a more severe injury but I’d consider that unlikely as he wasn’t immediately taken to the hospital for more testing.“
Andre Gomes set to part ways with Everton?
It has been a difficult campaign for the 30-year-old as he has battled several fitness issues.
He’s managed to play just 505 minutes in the Premier League with Sean Dyche handing him three starts.

With his contract running out at the end of the season, there is every chance that he does not pen a new deal and if he is not fit in time for the Arsenal game, fans may have seen the last of him.
