777 Partners possible bankruptcy alleged in court amid new Everton takeover deadline
Vasco Da Gama have taken prospective Everton owners 777 Partners to court to get control of the club out of their hands amid fears of bankruptcy, according to GE Globo.
Writing on their website (15 May), the Brazilian news outlet report that the club have taken action that “attempts to protect Vasco in the event of a possible seizure of Vasco’s SAF shares in the event 777 places them as a guarantee in the event of 777’s bankruptcy or insolvency”.
Club president Pedrinho is not convinced that 777 will be able to maintain their commitments to the club due to their ongoing financial troubles, despite the Miami-based investment firm agreeing a fresh deal with Farhad Moshiri to extend their exclusivity period to buy the club before May 31 [The Telegraph, 14 May].
No way 777 Partners can purchase Everton
The news of an extension between 777 Partners and Moshiri was worrying for Toffees fans, as it suggested there was a chance the deal could still go through.
However, with just two weeks remaining until the deadline and the issues with the investment firm persisting and arguably even getting worse with every passing day, it seems to be just a formality at this point.
The club have confirmed that there are “alternative situations” in the background ongoing in case the deal doesn’t go through, and there are said to be several other interested parties.

Businessmen Andy Bell and George Downing have been mooted as serious options [Telegraph, 14 May], while MSP Sports Capital are also credited with an interest.
Either way, this latest development makes it crystal clear that 777 Partners will not be getting anywhere near Everton ownership any time soon and that can only be seen as a good thing.
In other Everton news, Keys and Gray have mooted a controversial reason for Sean Dyche being overlooked as manager of the year.
