Everton told ‘distinct possibility’ 777 Partners takeover will be completed after Farhad Moshiri update

There is a “distinct possibility” 777 Partners will complete their takeover of Everton and become the Toffees’ owners, according to Simon Jordan.

The Miami-based investment firm has agreed on a deal to acquire Farhad Moshiri’s controlling stake at Goodison Park, but new financial issues at the company have thrown that deal into doubt.

Moshiri has agreed on an extension to 777 Partners’ deadline to complete the deal and while financial experts insist they won’t be able to meet the Premier League’s terms, Jordan still thinks the takeover may be completed.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Wednesday (15 May) he said: “It can (go into next season), will it? I don’t think so because if 777 aren’t in a position to be able to complete the transaction, somebody else is going to step in.

“I think there is a distinct possibility despite all the background noise and all the ruminations that they will end up owning Everton.”

Will 777 Partners complete their takeover of Everton football club?

Jordan seems to be the first person to suggest that this deal could be completed as all the alternative signs point towards 777’s bid being dead in the water, with this extension representing little more than a final roll of the dice.

Whether or not the Miami-based firm will be able to raise the money required to match the Premier League’s terms and finally get its approval remains to be seen, but even the most optimistic of fans have begun to doubt that.

There is a belief that alternative buyers are keen on securing a deal with Moshiri and most fans will be hoping that remains the case when this latest extension comes to an end at the end of May.

Hopefully, a more financially powerful and reliable buyer will emerge so that this entire farce can be put to an end. If 777 Partners were fit to run the Toffees, it wouldn’t have taken upwards of eight months for that to be obvious.
