Everton make official Andre Gomes contract announcement at Goodison Park
Everton have confirmed that both Andre Gomes and Andy Lonergan will leave Goodison Park at the end of their current contracts.
The Toffees announced in an official statement on Friday (17 May) that both first-team players will not extend their stays on Merseyside and will leave Sean Dyche’s side when their contracts expire at the end of June.
Gomes has struggled with injury issues throughout his time with the Blues but has managed to fight his way back into Dyche’s side this season with some impressive displays at the heart of midfield.

Gomes’ time at Goodison Park almost completely sums up the Toffees’ situation over the last few years as the Portuguese star was capable of so much, but never quite managed to put a consistent run of form together for an extended period.
Injuries have been the main issue for the midfielder and that partnered with his high wages always meant that he would likely leave Everton this summer. To be honest, most would have expected him to move on last year or even in January.
With the likes of Idrissa Gueye, James Garner, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Amadou Onana all impressing this season, there will be a feeling around Dyche and his team that they don’t need to spend that sort of money on wages for a rotation option.
The circumstances surrounding 777 Partners and their takeover of the Toffees have been well documented and while that deal continues to hang in the balance, Everton won’t be throwing money around aimlessly.
Lonergan won’t be a name well known to a majority of fans given his lack of pitch time for the Blues, but his experience in the goalkeeping department would have been useful, even if not always obvious.
