Jeff Stelling lauds ‘fantastic’ Sean Dyche at Everton amid Manager of the Season verdict
Jeff Stelling and Ally McCoist have lauded Sean Dyche at Everton this season as the pair deliberated over their Manager of the Season contenders.
The Toffees manager has helped guide the club to Premier League safety despite battling against two separate points deductions throughout the campaign, and the ongoing uncertainty over the club’s takeover.
Fans and the media alike have praised Dyche for his achievements and, deservedly, has been involved in the conversation for Premier League Manager of the Season.
Speaking live via talkSPORT on Tuesday (21 May, 9:26am), Stelling said: “He’s maintained his humour, never lost the plot, and most importantly, he’s got fantastic results. I’m not sure many managers could have gotten Everton out of trouble with eight points deducted.”
Agreeing with him, McCoist added: “He would have finished 10th, 11th or 12th – magnificent. I think the guy is different class. The way he handles himself in press conferences, and handles the players, straight as a die, different class. No doubt about it.
“I mentioned Oliver Glasner before the season ended. What a few weeks he has had at Crystal Palace, fantastic. Unai Emery got Aston Villa in the Champions League. But with the league and cup double, you’ve got to hand it to Pep Guardiola.”
Sean Dyche earns praise following dramatic Everton campaign
Dyche is already a much-loved figure in Merseyside and among other Premier League teams, for that matter. He has managed to keep a cool head amid all the uncertainty at Goodison Park.
As well as that, he led the Toffees to Premier League safety with a handful of matches remaining despite the club suffering from a total of eight points being deducted due to Profit and Sustainability breaches.
Though the difficult times have not been concluded, with the uncertainty of Everton’s takeover still evident, Dyche looks to be the man to lead the club forward.

The Evertonians will be keen to compete much further up the table, rather than the dogfight at the bottom of the Premier League, which is where Dyche’s men might have been without the punishments.
Of course, the manager in no way can be blamed for the negativity surrounding Goodison Park at the moment, and can only be praised for what he has achieved, having blocked out the noise.
In other Everton news, Amadou Onana looks set to leave Goodison Park as he doesn’t fit Dyche’s style.
