Everton could be set for two more Premier League points deductions already

Everton could be facing two further Premier League points deductions as the club risks another breach of Profit and Sustainability thresholds, according to Joe Thomas.

The Liverpool Echo journalist reported [22 May] that the Toffees are yet to account for millions of pounds of interest that the club claims were from loans used for the development of Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium.

It is understood that if Everton were to lose that argument, the amount of money needed to avoid a third breach of the £105million loss threshold over a three-year period would increase.

This could see the Merseyside club slapped with two more points deductions, one for if the previous breach is found to be “significantly higher”, and the second because this would make compliance much more difficult moving forward.

Everton could face brand new Premier League punishments

The drama surrounding Goodison Park, and Bramley-Moore Dock, is continuing to spiral, and the main sufferers from all of this are the faithful fans.

Evertonians just want to know that their club is safe. Though, with whole-fire player sales and administration already mooted, fans are extremely worried, and rightly so.

The whole situation is completely unacceptable, as 777 Partners’ takeover of the club continues to stall, with other parties supposedly becoming interested.

More points deductions could be detrimental for Everton. With the upcoming transfer window, players may feel the need to jump ship due to the uncertainty. Who can blame them?

It would also make Sean Dyche’s job much harder at Goodison Park during the 2024/25 campaign. After a total of eight points deducted this season, the Toffees narrowly escaped relegation, an achievement that Dyche has been heavily praised for.

If the club are to start next season on negative points, it is set to be an extremely long campaign on Merseyside.
