Everton takeover update as Farhad Moshiri now confident over 777 Partners

Farhad Moshiri is “confident” that 777 Partners will still be passed fit to complete a takeover at Everton despite doubts from the Premier League, according to the Mirror.

In their report regarding the future of goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, it was said that the current Everton owner believes the takeover will pass the Premier League’s owners’ and directors’ tests.

However, that feeling is not supported by much evidence, with talks stalling repeatedly over the last eight months and 777 still not satisfying the Premier League’s set criteria despite approaching several new investors.

The report states that if the takeover between Moshiri and 777 does collapse, Everton may have to sell high-value players like Pickford to balance the books and stave off the threat of administration.

Moshiri could face Everton exodus this summer

Everton did a remarkable job to confirm their Premier League status in trying circumstances, eventually finishing 14 points clear of the relegation zone.

That buffer would have been 22 had the Toffees not been stung with two points deductions for financial fair play breaches, and unfortunately for the Goodison Park faithful, such issues don’t look like going away anytime soon as 777 Partners’ attempted takeover drags on.

Moshiri seems insistent that only 777 must purchase his 94.1% majority stake in the club, potentially alienating alternative buyers and running the risk of administration as debts pile up with the takeover in limbo.

Jordan Pickford has been a consistent presence for both Everton and England for years

Pickford is just one of the players linked to a move to try and steady ailing finances, with Jarrad Branthwaite and Amadou Onana both mooted for exits as the club seeks cut-price alternatives in their respective positions.

Add to that a plethora of players either out of contract or loanees returning to parent clubs, and that leaves a threadbare squad for Sean Dyche to work with next season.

If Moshiri’s confidence in 777 completing their takeover has foundations, Everton may be coming to the end of this sorry saga, but it could also just be the start for an ownership group that appears to have just as many financial worries as Moshiri himself.
