Everton takeover update as ‘Public leaks’ verdict emerges from Goodison Park
The Esk has insisted that plenty is going on behind the scenes at Everton after another takeover extension was agreed with 777 Partners.
In response to a question on X regarding the sudden quietness on takeover developments, the Everton finance expert said that while a lack of public leaks is frustrating, talks are ongoing “quite properly” within the club.
The Toffees may have ended the Premier League season safe from relegation despite two points deductions, but now face a crucial summer ahead with fans no closer to knowing who, if anyone, will succeed Farhad Moshiri as majority shareholder.
If, as The Esk says, developments are ongoing behind the scenes, the Goodison Park faithful will be hopeful that a takeover could be completed sooner rather than later with the summer transfer window on the horizon.
How soon could Everton be taken over?
Everton have been mired in talks of a takeover for the vast majority of the season, a season which has been equally difficult both on and off the pitch.
While The Esk’s update said that those talks are ongoing behind the scenes, the club finance expert could give no timeframe as to when a full buyout of Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1% stake will happen, if at all.
777 Partners’ bid to take over the club has been going in circles for over eight months now and is reportedly on the brink of collapse, with Moshiri’s inability to look beyond the US investment group slowing the ability of third parties to come to the table.
With talks ongoing away from the public eye for the first time in this entire saga, a lack of fallout from rumours, reports and statements on social media could help to speed along the takeover process.
All still rests on Moshiri’s willingness to sell to a suitable buyer, but if his hand is forced, Everton fans could – hopefully soon – be waking up to the news of a new owner, new finances, and finally a fresh start.
