Idrissa Gueye sends message as Everton exit confirmation emerges
Idrissa Gueye was among the Everton players to pay tribute to Arnaut Danjuma after the Dutchman confirmed his return to parent club Villarreal.
Danjuma took to social media on Tuesday (21 May) to thank Toffees fans for their support during his 10 months at Goodison Park.
The Dutchman will now return to Villarreal, with a permanent switch to Merseyside never likely given his lack of playing time this campaign.
Despite his limited impact on the field, Danjuma was clearly well respected in the dressing room as Everton stars were quick to reply to his post.
Gueye commented: “My brother for life and death i love you.”
Arnaut Danjuma’s goals and assists record at Everton
Danjuma managed just two goals and zero assists in 20 appearances for Everton in all competitions – a terrible return for an attacking player.
While it is true he only played 868 minutes of football – the equivalent of around nine-and-a-half games – he still offered very little threat.
Supporters were excited by his arrival and the goals he scored in quick succession against Doncaster Rovers and Sheffield United offered hope.
The 27-year-old simply could not get going, though, and the whole fallout regarding his attempted move away in January did not help.

In fact, he did not play a single minute for the club beyond that, despite recovering from whatever injury he is said to have sustained.
Some loan deals work better than others, and in this instance there is no doubt that Everton are better off saying goodbye.
