Dominic Calvert-Lewin could sign new Everton contract as rival clubs circle
Everton are hoping Dominic Calvert-Lewin will sign a new contract with the club to stave off interest from Newcastle United, according to TEAMtalk.
The Toffees striker is approaching the final 12 months of his current deal, leading to Newcastle and another unnamed Premier League club hoping to sign him for a cut-price fee.
But TEAMtalk have reported that the club are hopeful their number nine will sign new terms to remain a Blue for the foreseeable future with an potentially chaotic summer ahead.
Calvert-Lewin could leave Goodison Park for free next summer if he stays at the club without signing a new deal, potentially forcing cash-strapped Everton into accepting an amount much less than their own valuation.
Everton in line to lose Calvert-Lewin this summer
Everton’s monetary worries have marred much of the last few years, with the Premier League campaign coming under the cloud of two points deductions for financial fair play breaches.
The Toffees still managed to stay up comfortably despite having eight points deducted, with Calvert-Lewin scoring four goals in their final nine games to secure points against Newcastle, Burnley, Liverpool and Luton.
However, with just 12 months to run on his contract, it remains to be seen whether the striker will pen a new deal at Goodison Park, and the longer he delays his decision, the bids will begin to come in.

Newcastle reportedly see Calvert-Lewin as the ideal backup to Alexander Isak, and that could swing talks in Everton’s favour – when fit, he is Sean Dyche’s first-choice striker bar none.
But with the Blues needing money quickly and by any means necessary, they may well accept any offer that comes their way for Calvert-Lewin to fund replacements elsewhere on the pitch.
Jarrad Branthwaite and Amadou Onana are the highest-value assets at Everton, but if they can’t be moved off the books in time, it could be curtains for their long-time number nine.
In other Everton news, Dyche may have been handed a new Amadou Onana blow after what happened in the Toffees’ defeat to Arsenal.
