Ashley Young is close to re-signing for Everton, according to Dharmesh Sheth.
The Sky Sports journalist revealed via X on Sunday (26 May) that the club and player have held “positive talks.”
Young is close to re-signing for the club with a one-year contract offer on the table.
The 38-year-old played 31 times in the Premier League for the Toffees last season, starting 27 matches.
Ashley Young close to sealing Everton return at Goodison Park
Young was very open about his desire to re-sign for Everton.
This will therefore not come as much of a surprise to most supporters, although they will be happy to see that talks have progressed positively.
There has been very little for fans at Goodison Park to shout about in recent times, and they will be relieved to finally read some positive news.
Young was instrumental in helping Everton regain Premier League status last season, even if he wasn’t always at his best on the pitch.
His presence in the changing room is a big help, with the Englishman a highly decorated player with plenty of experience thanks to his time with Manchester United.
Should his return to the club be confirmed, it would be a big boost for the Toffees and Sean Dyche.
Having Young around for another season will do the club no harm, especially if they are to find themselves in another relegation dogfight.
In other Everton news, the club have been urged to slash their asking price for Jarrad Branthwaite.
