Everton plot move to win James Overy race after VIP treatment at Manchester United

Everton are planning to make a move for Australian right-back James Overy, according to Alan Nixon.

Writing via his Patreon, ReluctantNicko (26 May), Nixon revealed that the Toffees will face competition from West Ham and Manchester United for the 16-year-old’s signature.

The Red Devils have given Overy “VIP treatment”, inviting him to train with the club and putting him up in Hotel Football beside Old Trafford.

Overy left Perth Glory after his family moved to Devon, and he is currently playing his football with Newton Abbot Spurs.

Everton face a tough task to sign James Overy ahead of Manchester United

This is a player who Everton have had a long-standing interest in.

But with Manchester United in for the defender, luring Overy to Goodison Park might prove tricky.

United are one of the biggest clubs in world football with fans all across the globe.

Overy will have likely dreamed of a move to Old Trafford since he was young, and if the club are offering him the so-called “VIP treatment”, then it might be difficult for him to refuse an offer.

However, at the age of 16, he might not feel ready for a move to a club where other young talents have faded away previously.

Instead, by joining Everton he might be given more opportunities to flourish and develop effectively.

Everton are a massive club in their own right, and there is no reason why they can’t compete with United.

The Toffees need to give Overy a decision to make because if they can beat United to the signing, it would mark a real statement of intent.
