Everton urged to slash Jarrad Branthwaite price tag amid £80million Manchester United news
Bryan King claims Everton have “no chance” of selling Jarrad Branthwaite for £80million.
The ex-Everton scout feels that there is money to be made on the centre-back, but the Toffees will need to lower his price tag.
It comes after a report in iNews (21 May) revealed that Everton are standing firm at their minimum asking price of £80million amid interest from Manchester United and Newcastle.
But King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – doesn’t believe any club would be “silly” enough to pay that type of money.
“Everton have no chance of getting £80million for Branthwaite,” King said.
“He is not an £80million player, and if there is someone out there who is silly enough to pay that money, then I would be very surprised.
“Branthwaite is still young, and he is an interesting player so there is money to be made on him, but not at that price point.”
How likely is Jarrad Branthwaite to leave Everton amid interest from Manchester United?
There is nothing wrong with the Toffees setting a high asking price to start with.
However, it is difficult to see any club paying £80million for a young defender after one good season.

Branthwaite’s future will largely depend on takeover developments at Goodison Park.
The longer Everton’s financial troubles drag on, the more likely it is that their £80million asking price will start to come down.
In other Everton news, the club have been backed to complete a re-signing after a player’s stance was revealed.
